On May 7th, I took my Toyota AWD Hybrid SUV to My Auto Surgeon (in Roseville) for an oil change, tire rotation, and front brake pads replacement (including rotor resurfacing). I had high expectations based on the outstanding reviews I read on Yelp, but didn't know anyone personally that could vouch for their service, good or bad, so I was hoping for the best, but ultimately, wasn't certain how things were going to turn out. In short, my experience was exceptional! My Auto Surgeon has every aspect of the customer service component part of the business down solid: Cameron, the manager of the Roseville location, greeted me warmly upon my arrival, estimated the cost of the services very accurately, provided a time estimate for when my vehicle would likely be ready (but had it ready hours earlier) and most importantly, competently performed all the services mentioned previously (including changing the air filter, which was in serious need of replacement) for a very fair price. I don't think it would be appropriate of me to mention the specific amount I paid for all the work done (because car service/repair is not a static business model - what type of vehicle you have and the nature of your driving is obviously going to impact what you're charged), but for the A+ quality of their work, I found the out the door cost a tremendous value. My local Toyota dealership quoted me a price that would have been (at least) a few hundred dollars higher, and their (Yelp) reviews were average at best. I also got quotes from 4+ star (Yelp) rated independent shops geographically closer to me, and not only were the basic estimates a bit higher, but unnecessary "fluff" services (like fuel additives) they added on made the quotes quite a bit higher. Then, as so many disingenuous "chain" auto shops regularly do, they said they would be providing me a multi-point vehicle inspection (ie-fluid checks) at no extra charge. My Auto Surgeon doesn't engage in any of those annoying business practices (but obviously still did all the fluid checks at mo extra charge) and further, there didn't appear to be any "filler" people (what auto dealerships typically refer to as service advisors), adding yet additional costs but not providing any additional value. One final note: this business uses social networking sites (in this case, Yelp) very effectively: I was able to manage the whole services needed and appointment setting process via the Yelp app on my iPhone. Extremely pleased, and needless to say, will be a repeat customer for all future maintenance and services for my car!
